Frequently Asked Questions

for Students

How do I get involved?

Getting involved is super easy! Click the Sign Up button on the top right of this page, find your city, and fill out the form! When a parent makes a request that matches your availability, ability to drive, and willingness to volunteer, we will reach out to connect you with your match. From there, you and your match will contact each other directly to sort out logistics!

Will I be paid for my time?

You can be! Many of our student babysitters sign up to volunteer their time, but we understand this isn’t an option for everyone! When you sign up, there is a place on the form to indicate whether you would like to volunteer or you need to be paid for your time. If you need to be paid, we will only match you with a parent who has indicated they can pay their babysitter!

What if Step Up to SIT isn’t in my city?

If you would like to get involved but Step Up to SIT isn’t in your city, consider joining as an Ambassador! Our local Ambassadors coordinate our program in their communities and are the backbone of Step Up to SIT. If you’re interested in becoming an Ambassador, click here, and fill out the form! We will set you up with everything you need to get started in your community, and we are always available to help or answer any questions!

How will I be helping?

Our community’s healthcare workers are risking their own health and safety every single day to keep us healthy and safe. With recent school closures, many have been left scrambling to find care for their children while they’re at work, and daycares increase risk and rate of viral spread. By signing up to babysit and being matched with a single family, you reduce the speed of the spread and allow our incredible healthcare workers to do their jobs!
